Description
Zolpidem is a sedative like Nitrazepam, also called a hypnotic. It affects chemicals in the brain that may be unbalanced in people who suffer from insomnia (sleep problems).
Uses Ambien
It is used to treat to treat insomnia (difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep)
So if you have trouble falling asleep, it helps you fall asleep faster, so you can get a better night’s rest.
Zolpidem dosing information
Initial Dose: 5 mg (Women) OR 5 mg or 10 mg (Men)
Maintenance Dose: if the 5 mg dose is not effective, then the dose can be increased to 10 mg.
Maximum Dose: 10 mg once a day.
How to use Zolpidem
Take this medication by mouth on an empty stomach as directed by your doctor, usually just before you get into bed. Do not take it with or after a meal because it will not work as quickly.
Important Information before taking Zolpidem
Do not share this medication with other people even if they have the same symptoms as you.
Stop taking Zolpidem and get emergency medical help if you notice any of these signs of an allergic reaction, difficulty breathing, swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.

Hives, breathing difficulty, swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.
Stop using this medicine and call your doctor at once if you have:
feeling like you might pass out
trouble breathing or swallowing
chest pain, fast or irregular heartbeat, feeling short of breath
